92 hornists from 22 countries pass the pre-selection process
Zurück zur Liste(cs) The competition year in the music town of Markneukirchen began with a new record of 164 applications for the horn. This enormous number of applicants confirmed the great interest of young musicians in the annual instrumental competition in the town of music. It also reflected its outstanding position within international music competitions and its importance in promoting young professional musicians.
However, the large influx made a pre-selection necessary. The jury decided on the admission of the applicants to the competition based on the recordings submitted.
It was with great pleasure that 92 young horn players from 22 countries received an invitation to take part in the competition in Markneukirchen. Previously, all 114 registered applicants for tuba had already been accepted for the competition. This means that a total of 206 candidates in horn and tuba from 38 countries on 5 continents have been admitted to the competition - more than ever before when horn and tuba were on the program in Markneukirchen.
All candidates are invited to put their skills to the test from May 7 to 16, 2026 in three challenging competition rounds and the concluding final in the Markneukirchen Music Hall.
