6 participants each reach the 3rd round

(cs) Of the 37 participants in the second round of this year's International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen in the subjects horn and tuba, a total of 12 candidates have reached the third selection examination.
In the horn category, six young musicians aged between 19 and 29 from Brazil, Germany, Italy, Colombia and Luxembourg qualified. In the tuba section, six participants aged between 20 and 27 from China, Germany, France, Japan, Hungary and Venezuela have asserted themselves.
In the third round, the participants will now perform a programme of up to 45 minutes. In the horn category, the programme includes the Concerto in E-flat Major KV 495 by W.A. Mozart, concertos by Gordon Jacob, Oliver Knussen or Gunnar de Frumerie as well as sonatas by Nils Viggo Bentzon, Trygve Madsen or Jane Vignery of the participant's choice.
In the tuba section, all candidates will play the commissioned work of this year's competition, "Aubade" by Willi März, Sweet Dances by Elizabeth Raum, Adagio and Allegro op. 70 by Robert Schumann as well as their own selection from the given works by Julius Jacobsen, Igor Rekhin, Franz Cibulka and Niklas Sivelöv.

The competitions will start on Wednesday, 9.00 a.m. for the tuba and 3.00 p.m. for the horn in the Musikhalle Markneukirchen. Visitors are welcome. The names of the candidates who reach the final round will be announced in the foyer of the Markneukirchen Music Hall at about 2 p.m. in the tuba category and about 8.30 p.m. in the horn category.
