11 participants play in the 3rd round

(sh) Of the 36 candidates in the second round of this year's competition in the oboe and cello categories, a total of 11 candidates have reached the third round.
Six young musicians aged between 21 and 28 from Germany/Italy, Hong Kong, Portugal, Spain and South Korea qualified in the oboe category.
In the trombone category, a further five participants aged between 20 and 30 from the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Hungary made it through.
In the third round, the oboe participants will now perform a programme lasting up to 40 minutes. The programme includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1030b), Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (Wq 135) and Francois Couperin as well as a number of contemporary works.
There will also be an extensive programme of 20th century works for the trombone.
The competitions for both instruments will take place on Wednesday in the Markneukirchen Music Hall and will begin at 9.40 am for trombone and 3 pm for oboe. Visitors are very welcome. The names of the candidates who reach the final round will be announced at around 2.00 pm in the trombone section and around 8.00 pm in the oboe section at the competition venue and later online on the competition website.
