14 candidates reach the 3rd round of the 58th Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition in the categories violoncello and double bass
Zurück zur Liste(mv) Of the 53 candidates in the 2nd round of this year's competition in the subjects violoncello and double bass, a total of 14 candidates have reached the third round.
Seven young musicians aged between 15 and 26 from Canada, Austria, the Czech Republic, China, Poland, Taiwan and Belgium qualified for the violoncello competition.
In the double bass section, another seven participants aged between 18 and 27 from Germany, Hong Kong, Portugal, Russia and South Korea prevailed.
In the third round, the participants in the violoncello category will now perform a programme of up to one hour. This will include sonatas by Beethoven (op. 102/1), Fauré (op. 117), Poulenc or Debussy and a number of works of their own choice.
The form of the sonata is also dominant in the double bass subject. The participants can choose between a sonata in A minor by Schubert, a sonata in E minor by Brahms or the sonata no. 3 in F major by Adolf Mišek.
The competitions will begin on Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. for the violoncello in the Music Hall and for the double bass in the Old Castle in Erlbach. Visitors are welcome to attend. The names of the candidates who will reach the final round will be announced at about 3.45 p.m. for the double bass and at about 7.30 p.m. for the violoncello at the competition venue and later online on the competition website.
